Warming Up
In 2004, Cipha was the official DJ of The Chappelle Show. After much encouragement from Chappelle and his radio listeners, Cipha took his first steps into the comedy world. In 2007, he created and hosted the monthly comedy show, “Don’t Get Gassed Comedy Series”.
This show was a perfect blend of hip hop celebrities and world class athletes in the audience enjoying the talents of some of New York City’s up and coming comedians as well as world wide comedic superstars.
Frequent comedians were Tracey Morgan, Amy Schumer, Kevin Heart, Andrew Schultz, Patrice O’Neal, Bill Burr and more
Featuring
After several years of cracking jokes on stage, Cipha started taking standup comedy very seriously. Working tirelessly on his craft, Cipha decided to start taking improv classes at the world renowned Upright Citizen Brigade Theatre.
Love of comedy, mixed with hip hop hustle, got Cipha to start a weekly show at the UCB Theatre called Take It Personal The Hip Hop Improv Show. Celebrities such as 2 Chainz, The RZA, Zoe Kravitz, Donald Glover, Action Bronson, YG, and even Broad City, would tell real life stories to inspire a totally improvised show from Cipha and his squad.
The success of this show and standup gigs, prompted Cipha to quit his 17 year career at Hot 97 and go full time comedy
Headlining
